Aiming high and discovering

Stone pine forest: scent of happiness

You don't have to search for the stone pine forest. You can almost imagine that the gnarled trees deliberately chose their location near Obergurgl. After all, some very popular hiking routes lead straight past this paradisiacal piece of earth. You can spend hours there. Inhaling the resinous scent. Breathing deeply, that's the scent of happiness.

Playgrounds: place of happiness

Unrivaled fun for children of all ages. In Gurgl you can go horse riding and also the playgrounds for the youngest hikers make a true highlight. The one at Hohe Mut Alm promises double the fun as it nestles right at the top. Plus splendid mountain views and ice giants all around. Another special tip: there is also a playground for adventurous kids at Top Mountain Crosspoint.

Smugglers: pushings one's luck

Would you like to visit the Smuggler or look into the mountains with a giant Telescope? Welcome to the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road. To the left and right of the panorama road there are exciting activity stations that show, for example, that smugglers used to be around exactly where visitors stop by today.

Timmelsjoch: Happiness grows on the road

The road up to Timmelsjoch is not just a boring route for cars and motorcycles. In fact, it is an experience for all senses, an emotional journey in the midst of a landscape that otherwise only high Alpine hikers catch sight of. Of course, it leads from A to B, from Ötztal to Passeiertal - but nobody should consider it as a pure road connection. Drive, stop by, look out, visit the Pass Museum and take your time! It can even be topped: continue for a day trip to Meran or Bozen. And return happily to Gurgl afterwards.
