Drive directly to Obergurgl in your own car
Obergurgl is situated at the end of the Ötztal valley and is easily accessible via the B186 from the Ötztal junction (A12) – a journey of around 50 km through one of Tyrol’s most impressive landscapes.

From the west
From Vorarlberg via the Arlberg Pass or through the Arlberg Tunnel (S16) – Landeck – A12 motorway – Ötztal exit – B186 (50 km) to Obergurgl-Hochgurgl.

From the north
Several route options lead via Bad Tölz, Pfronten, Garmisch-Partenkirchen or Mittenwald, each via the A12 or B171 to the Ötztal exit and on via the B186 (50 km) to Obergurgl-Hochgurgl.

From the east
From Munich or Salzburg, take the A93 to Kufstein, then continue on the A12 via Innsbruck to Ötztal, then take the B186 for approx. 50 km to Obergurgl-Hochgurgl.

From the south
Coming from Merano in South Tyrol via the Timmelsjoch to Obergurgl-Hochgurgl – a high-altitude toll road at just under 2,500 m, open from early June to mid/late October. Alternatively, take the A22 towards Brenner, continue on the A13 to Innsbruck, then take the A12 towards Bregenz and, at the Ötztal exit, take the B186 (50 km) to Obergurgl-Hochgurgl.

By plane
The nearest airports are Innsbruck, Zurich, Munich and Salzburg. From there, you can easily continue your journey to Obergurgl by shuttle or public transport.

By train
Your destination station is Ötztal. From there, you can reach Obergurgl by public bus or taxi. Use the ÖBB’s online timetable search to plan your journey.

Shuttle service
Ötztaler Verkehrsgesellschaft offers a convenient shuttle service that will take you reliably from the railway station or airport directly to the Hotel Mathiesn in Obergurgl.
